Parental Feedback

It is really important to us that we get a good understanding of what our parents think and gather any suggestions that will help us to improve our offer to our community.

To this end we regularly solicit feedback in the form of Parent Questionnaires. One was an overview of the School, the other was asking parents about the Distinctive Christian Character of a Church School. Please see below for 2017 results:

Parents can also visit Parent View to tell OFSTED what they think of the school. Click on the icon below to visit the Parent View page about Christ Church.

What do we do well as a school?

  • Children are happy and well behaved. They learn to be kind and caring
  • The school is very inclusive and welcoming. Parents are encouraged to be involved and are listened to, as are the pupils.
  • A warm family feel to the school. Family Worship on a Friday is a great way to celebrate achievements and learning
  • Headteacher listens to feedback and reacts positively to address concerns
  • Christ Church is a very special place that fosters kindness and independence/. Pupils feel like they belong and are proud of the school.
  • Teachers are always responsive - prompt
  • Children respect and look out for one another. It is good to see the different age groups getting on.
  • The website is a huge improvement on the old one
  • PAFA events are varied and excellent
  • Music – second to none compared with what is offered at other schools.
  • Feedback is acted upon and we are kept up to date with plans for the school
  • Children take part in a wide range of activities, such as sports, drama and music
  • Teachers are committed to the children that they teach
  • Every part of the school is well managed – well done all!
  • Teachers are supported by excellent teaching assistants
  • I was very impressed with the First Aid training that the children had at the school
  • Welcoming and friendly staff
  • The school has done amazingly well in promoting a welcoming and happy atmosphere
  • The children’s enthusiasm for learning is clearly visible and that in itself is a massive achievement that the teachers and headteacher should be given credit
  • Making children feel safe. My child loves coming to school and has lots of friends.
  • The newsletter is an excellent addition to the website
  • Celebrating successes both inside and outside school
  • The end of year school report was lovely
  • All support staff are very helpful and supportive
  • You have created an environment which makes my child want to go to school
  • Helping parents to understand what is expected of their children. Maths and literacy sessions were great.
  • Kids feel safe and want to come to school
  • School listens to any problems – family or child
  • Children are taught manners and values
  • The events driven by a brilliant PAFA Committee!
  • The headteacher and staff always ensure that parents feel part of the decision making process
  • Recognising achievements and involving families
  • Proving very good school meals for the children
  • The creative curriculum allows children to explore all areas
  • Well led and all teachers and staff are always professional
  • The school does many things very well. The administration of the school is very efficient and well organised. The receptionists are always friendly and helpful.
  • Teachers know every child well as do the SLT

What could we improve on?

  • Occasionally messages come through to us late but the texts are generally very helpful
  • More structure with the home work so we can get into a routine
  • The playground is uninspiring and dominated by football. Other games could be encouraged
  • School trips could be improved. Can the children visit a range of different places?
  • More frequent communication via weekly letters
  • More competitive sport. Although this has improved, it would be good to see more taking place
  • Foreign languages. Can more after-school clubs be organised?
  • Can messages be conveyed via email to avoid paper use??
  • More inter-school competitions to increase confidence e.g. – general knowledge or road safety
  • The school could do more for working parents. Tea and Talk is great, but some parents may not be able to attend after school. Could an afternoon slot be offered?
  • School main reception area is cramped. Could this be more ‘open plan?’
  • The school has recently improved the opportunities that children get to perform but these should continue to grow
  • To ensure that activities outside of more traditional learning are not seen as ‘add ons’ and become embedded within culture of the school
  • Can the school introduce a school journey for Year 4 children?
  • Communication around after-school clubs could be better so that we have a chance of getting our kids on
  • Please provide more timings of events so parents can plan their time effectively
  • More guidance and support for children exceeding learning outcomes
  • The school issues a lot of paper letters. Is there a better way of doing this?
  • It would be good to see more singing at the school and not just in assemblies
  • Homework projects can place too much pressure on parents
  • I would like to know what activities are available at playtimes. They need lots to do
  • I am pleased to hear about the changes for home learning next year
  • It would be great to see the school make more of their location for Forest School in other year groups.
  • The diamond is a great idea but maybe some other children fade into the background and their efforts are not noticed?
